The Message from WSF’s Chairman

In the 10 years that served as the director of the Minority Business Development Center – Southern California, my deepest feeling is that the development process of any minority enterprise in the U.S. is not easy. This difficulty comes not only from language barriers and cultural differences but also from the lack of interaction and understanding between the government and the minorities.

Even before the current pandemic, it was clear that government-funded service providers aimed at providing relief and support did not have the capabilities to reach out to communities with less access to these resources such as the Asian and Southeast Asian communities in the United States. One reason for this difficulty may be the fact that these service providers have no previous relationships within these communities and thus are unable to achieve the acceptance, cooperation, and trust required for meaningful exchange. Fortunately, the team of the William Stephanie Foundation has a history of community service in California for decades and has close relationships with consulates and chambers of commerce of various ethnicities, which enables us to develop relationships with those hard-to-reach communities and to facilitate meaningful and trusting exchanges.

In addition to promoting the economic development of minorities in Southern California, the William & Stephanie Foundation also aims to initiate and organize positive-energy-themed events, such as cultivating the youth’s sense of social responsibility, increasing people’s awareness of environmental sustainability, and music healing therapy. We believe that in this era of impetuous and materialism, only achieving material abundance is not enough. The idea of awakening everyone’s dream and having a beautiful mind is even more important.

In the future, we hope that you can continue to support our foundation and our events, which helps us better serve the community. It has proved that California has surpassed France and Brazil in the economy and has leaped into the world’s fifth-largest economy. This achievement is inseparable from the contribution of the minorities. We look forward to enhancing the exchanges between minorities and government/mainstream media so that each individual on this free land will have the opportunity to pursue a more glorious future.
